Biography

Dr Chiumello holds position at the dipartimento di anest-esia e terapia intensiva, Fondazione IRCCS Cà Granda Ospedale Maggiore Milano. Educational Background: Davide Chiumello MD is an Intensivist at Fondazione IRCCS – Ca’ Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico di Milano, Dipartimento di Anestesia, Rianimazione e Terapia del Dolore. He received his medical degree from the University of Milan (Italy) in 1995. In 1996 he moved to Canada for a research fellowship at the department of Pneumology (Director Prof. A.S. Slutsky, Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Canada) on the patho-physiology of ventilator-induced lung injury. Work Experience: Dr Chiumello’s investigative work has always concentrated in understanding the pathological and clinical aspects of acute respiratory distress syndrome, with particular interest in respiratory physiology, esophageal pressure, lung recruitment, lung imaging, ventilator induce lung injury, prone position, controlled and assisted mechanical ventilation, non invasive ventilation and lung imaging. Since 2009 until now he has worked as Editor in Chief of Minerva Anestesiologica (official journal of Società Italiana di Analgesia, Anestesia e Terapia Intensiva). Since 2011 he is member of the Editorial Board of the Critical Care Medicine (official journal of Society of Critical Care Medicine). He is also reviewer for several inter-national Journals and Editor of the Respiratory Failure section for the PACT (Patient Centred Acute Care Train-ing) of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine since 2013. He is author of more than 100 scientific articles and several book chapter’s in medical textbooks.
