Biography
Herbert Spapen, MD, PhD is Senior Staff Member, Head of Unit, and Director of Clinical Research in the Intensive Care Department of the University Hospital Brussels. He is Professor of Internal and Critical Care Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the Vrije Universiteit Brussels (VUB), Belgium. His fields of interest and research include sepsis, antibiotic pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, and prevention and treatment of severe infections in the critically ill patient. Dr Spapen has lectured nationwide and internationally on these topics. He is author or co-author of more than 200 peer-reviewed articles.
